The calm before the storm

Well we made it through the storms ok. Just high winds and small hail by the time it reached us. The tornadoes all missed us but Dallas and East Texas were not so lucky. My prayers go to those that were in the path of those storms.

Isn't it amazing how quickly the weather can change. It was a beautiful day before the storms blew in. I was quite surprised actually when the weather radio went off with the first of the tornado watches. The sun was shining, a light breeze blowing, and we were able to spend a glorious spring day outside just being.

There is truly nothing better than small dirty hands and a smile that lights up a face. These brought to you courtesy of the Rolly Pollies. (And yes I have no clue if that is spelled correctly LOL)

Snapped a few pics before the dirt spread to her clothes LOL...

And then back to Rolly Polly hunting and creating the perfect habitat for them to live in. By the end of the afternoon, 15 Rolly Pollys were enjoying our company.
Oh the little man, Alfred, my sweet baby who lives with Nana and is very much missed in our family in Alaska.
A few more pics in my mom's beautiful backyard...

Wild strawberries, the perfect food for Rolly Pollys according to Ansley....

A friendly lizard stopped by to visit....
And then A grabbed the camera and insisted on snapping a few of me. Not the best of me (Allergy eyes), but hey not shabby for a 5 year old.

We have had so much fun. It is hard to imagine that in a week and a half we will be back in the cold, white, snow covered world of Unalaska. Dh says that there is still a good amount of snow on the ground and when we talked tonight it was snowing. Sigh. It will be hard to leave the green beauty of this place and return to wait the 2 and 1/2 more months until spring begins to appear in Unalaska.
